Red Bone Alley, a bar in South Carolina, has a unique way to help its customers get home sober. They are using a system called Red Rover. According to scnow.com, "Red Rover is a two-man system. A patron rides with one of the bar's sober drivers, while a second sober person follows behind in his vehicle. The first driver drops off the patron and his or her vehicle, then rides back to the bar with the second driver. The service is completely free of charge, though patrons are encouraged to tip drivers."
There are obviously many reasons why getting home safe is important but from an insurance perspective it can be extremely costly to drive after being convicted of a DUI. Special insurance must be obtained which can be up to 50% more than traditional insurance.
