People Without Car Insurance, What do You Think... Should We "Give Them a Break?"

I recently came across a story at www.kfoxtv.com. The story explains how a new law in Texas is causing people to lose their cars because of not having insurance.

Getting your car towed if you don't have car insurance is common since it is the law in all states to carry some type of minimum car insurance. Some in the story feel the law should not be so strict. A person in the article, Teran, says that before towing someone's car because of not having insurance the authorities should, "check first if a person has had insurance. If it has lapsed within a certain amount of time, then give them a break, cite them for no insurance, but don't tow the car."

"Give Them a Break?" What do you think would happen if we just gave everyone a break as Teran suggests when one does not have car insurance?

Everyone should have insurance, period. But during these trying economic times and with so many people out of work we must come up with another solution. The problem I see is the Police are too quick to tow then when you go to retrive your car you must prove insurance. If you can’t the tow company keeps the car and then they lien sale it and keep the money. What I think is is you can’t pay the insurance, don’t drive. If you do drive and get cited and you can’t pay your insurance turn in your license plates and your drivers license. Then if you get caught driving you lose the car for good. Watch “Parking Wars” on A&E on cable and watch these people that try to get their car out of impound. After watching that show when I get my DMV registration in the mail I send that check that day. (LOL)
