Mexico City is the Place to Visit: Free Tourist Health Insurance, Interest Free Loans and Discounts up to 60%

Thursday June 11, 2009
Mexico City is wanting you to visit. The recent news coverage of the swine flu has put the brakes on their tourist industry. In response, the Mexico City government has launched some great deals for tourists.

According to the online news source, Financial Times, "The cover, which will be provided by ACE Seguros, the Mexican arm of the ACE Group, an international insurer, will allow any foreign tourists to seek medical attention at private hospitals throughout the city. It will not cover long-term maladies or illnesses contracted before arrival.

The city government announced that it would also launch a bank card for national tourists visiting Mexico City, which would give them an interest-free loan for purchases made in the capital and payable via monthly deductions from their salary.

It is even working on a special coupons book to give tourists discounts ranging from between 10 per cent and 60 per cent at more than 1,000 businesses in the capital."

If you plan to visit Mexico City and are tempted to forgo travel health insurance you may want to think again. Travel health insurance has many additional coverages that may not be covered by the special tourist health insurance Mexico City is offering.
