No Payout for the "Winning" Goal at the $50,000 Allstate Good Hands Shootout at Indiana Ice

By , About.com GuideFebruary 16, 2011

Follow me on:

Richard Marsh hit the puck in the target and the crowd cheered! He wanted his $50,000 prize to go to charity. Later, it was revealed that he would not get the prize money after all since he hit the puck slightly past the starting line. So now, Allstate looks like a bad loser.

Really though, it was not Allstate that was to pay out the prize. Another insurance company was hired for the prize payout and Allstate was just the sponsor. Indiana Ice released a statement about the incident and said, "Allstate was only the event sponsor of the promotion. Despite the outcome of the shot, the Indiana Ice will be making a monetary donation to St. Vincent Cardiovascular Services and the American Heart Association on behalf of the contestant."
