You already know (since you are an avid reader of this blog of course) that you need more than homeowners insurance to adequately protect your jewelry. That's why you added a rider on your homeowners insurance policy to protect your jewelry.

Lots of good information here. Also, note that some carriers will not cover it if your jewlery is lost but only if it is stolen. This makes a big difference because lets face it, there is a greater chance of it being lost than it is being stolen. So, make sure that the carrier you are insuring with will cover both of these. In addition, keep in mind that many companies have the option of replacing the jewlery if a claim is filed and they will do that instead of just giving you a check for what is it worth. So, having a personal articles policy for your jewlery is often a better option than scheduling it on your homeowners insurance policy. Most importantly, have appraisals and take pictures of your stuff!
