According to blogs.wsj.com, The Wall Street Journal reported last month that the United Healthcare Workers East decided to drop health care coverage "for the children of more than 30,000 low-wage home attendants." In the original paperwork sent to the employees it was mentioned that some of the loss of coverage was due to the new Obama Health Care Law.
This news has been a topic of interest among both supporters and opponents of the new health care law. When Obama's health care reform was being proposed and was not law yet, opponents feared that employers would be doing exactly what the union did. Earlier this week though the union reported that they do support the health care law and that "even without the health-care requirements under new federal laws, the benefit fund would have been struggling."
