Health Insurance Changes Starting Thursday

By , About.com GuideSeptember 22, 2010

Follow me on:

Some big changes are coming Thursday because of the new health care law passed by the Obama administration. These changes include keeping kids up to 26 years old on their parents' insurance plan, no lifetime coverage limits, and insurance companies cannot deny children insurance coverage if they have a pre-existing medical condition.

That last one has stirred up some headlines. Not denying children with pre-existing conditions seems like a good idea, but unfortunately it may change the offerings of health care coverage to children. Unfortunately because of the new health care law, insurance companies are considering not offering children's insurance policies altogether.
