If you are not aware of the term yet, it is called Driving While Distracted, or DWD. Studies by Nationwide show that "nearly half of Americans (48 percent) considered cell phones to be the most dangerous distraction while driving. More than 40 percent say they have been hit or almost hit by another driver who was talking on a cell phone," according to businesswire.com. The article also sites that "distracted driving causes 80 percent of all accidents", a statistic gathered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Teens are especially susceptible to being DWD. Thankfully Nationwide Insurance and Aegis Mobility have realized the severity of this problem and have teamed up to provide a new service that will enable your teen's cell phone to automatically know when your teen is driving. After it detects your teen is driving it will not allow calls to come through to your teen but instead will allow the incoming caller to leave a message or even find the location of your teen. And, as an added bonus, Nationwide is giving a car insurance discount to customers who subscribe to the service!
