Are You Worried Your Identity Could Be Stolen?

Tuesday August 5, 2008
Maybe you should be. It has always been in the headlines, but now that the U.S. recession is hitting a lot more people, I think we will be seeing more identity theft related crimes.

Take for instance this recent story about credit card fraud reported on iht.com. The story reports that in Boston "eleven people, including a U.S. Secret Service informant, have been charged in connection with the hacking of nine major retailers and the theft and sale of more than 41 million credit and debit card numbers, the Justice Department announced Tuesday. The data breach is believed to be the largest hacking and identity theft case ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice, which said the suspects were charged with conspiracy, computer intrusion, fraud and identity theft."

There are steps you can take to help protect yourself from identity theft, and one that has become more popular recently is acquiring identity theft insurance.
