And Yet Another Fake Insurance Salesperson

Thursday July 31, 2008
I like to highlight these stories because it helps us all remember to be aware. Think about it... when you bought your insurance did you ask for proof of the salesperson's insurance license? You are not alone if you answered no, as it is very rare for someone to do so. And, you should not have to. But, there are fake insurance salespersons that can fool you such as Isaac Chandler of Grand Rapids, MI. According to a recent article at mlive.com, police reported that Mr. Chandler "sold a bogus insurance policy to a man who was involved in a fatal crash in Walker. He also sold fake insurance policies throughout the region."

So, what should you do when purchasing insurance? Should you ask for some proof of license? Well, if it is a new insurance agent in town, that is not affiliated with a national company and you have no information about them, yes, it is perfectly fine to ask for proof. But, one of the best ways to find a good agent is to simply ask your family and friends who they would recommend.
