Are you an Allstate Customer? Give Us Some Feedback!

Monday July 28, 2008
Ouch! A recent press release from the American Association for Justice doesn't beat around the bush when they express how bad Allstate is for consumers. According to their study, which was put together from a "comprehensive investigation of thousands of legal documents and financial filings," Allstate ranked at the top of the list. “While Allstate publicly touts its ‘good hands’ approach, it has instead privately instructed its agents to employ a ‘boxing gloves’ strategy against its policyholders,” said American Association for Justice CEO Jon Haber. “Allstate ducks, bobs and weaves to avoid paying claims to increase its profits.”

Of course, Allstate is a huge company and they have many satisfied customers. Are you one of those? Or, are you in agreement with the above study and feel Allstate deserves to get the number one spot for the worst insurance company? Let us know... leave your comments to this blog and give us your experience with Allstate.

Basicly its like this… I switched to allstate because they gave me a great quote but 2 months later i got a bill for about $200 more a year than what they quoted and it took me about 2 months to get a reason out of them on why, and when i finally got the reason it was some bs reason they said after reviewing my last policy with geico that i was high risk so they had to raise the priemium. I’ve only had one no fault accident(slid on ice and hit a tree) in the last 18 years and 1 ticket from about 18 years ago. They should not have quoted me a price and then change it later for no reason

I’ve enjoyed Allstate. I’ve been with them for about 2 years now… I have my auto and car insurance. I (my husband and I) have had two at fault accidents – they paid all that they said they would and my rates have NEVER gone up (Accident Forgiveness). I have a good relationship with my agent! I maintain contact with her, and send Christmas cards and “thank yous.” I don’t know if that makes a difference.

Also, insurance companies will quote you one price, and then issue another. That’s normal. Quotes must be sent to underwriting, and that’s the person who reviews what you said (and didn’t say) when asking for a quote and accesses your risk. Your risk is compared to what the insurance company is prepared to handle. It’s different from every insurance company!
Now, I wish they had told you up front – your quote was quoted lower than it would be issued for, so that way you would know and could re-evaluate!

I have had auto insurance with Allstate since 1975. I have filed 4 claims during this time and all have been taken care of with no problems at all. In addition there were no increases in my insurance rates. I have had homeowners insurance with them for the past 3 years but haven’t had to file a claim but would hope they would be as good on the homeowners policies as they are on auto insurance.

I just recived a quote in the mail from Allstate. They had all of my information correct, all of my requested coverages correct and everything was equal or better than my current house insurance. the annual premium was quoted at ~$350. I am paying ~$780 for my current insurance. So, I called Allstate to switch over. They said the mail qiuote was an estimate and they would have to re-run the numbers. They did so and came back with a quote of almost $900 with significantly lower liability coverage. My insurance rating is as close to perfect as can be, I’ve never had a claim, so essentially their by mail quote was either 1) a false advertising gimick or 2) a blatant lie.

I’m an Allstate customer and they have been very loyal and helpful so long as I’ve been paying my own insurance.

Allstate’s customer service is the worst. I was hit by a client of Allstate’s and their claims person is horrible. I have never dealt with such a horrible attitude and unhelpful customer service. I assume that the claims person is mad that his client caused such a huge accident. He’s been trying to cut corners from day 1, I will NEVER shop for insurance with them. If that’s the way they treat people, I would rather pay more and have more friendly and better customer service.
