Don't Assume Your State Insurance Website is Always Accurate
Tuesday April 8, 2008
Check this out: According to www.chron.com, "A state Web site intended to educate consumers about Massachusetts' newly deregulated auto insurance market instead gives them inaccurate rate comparisons, Attorney General Martha Coakley said Tuesday on the day the new competitive system took effect." This is truly unfortunate because most consumers blindly trust their state insurance website. The article goes on to point out that the "site is only 20 percent to 40 percent accurate in advising which insurer offers the best rates, based on tests in which data about typical drivers were entered into a rate-comparison database, Coakley said."
This is why everyone should get insurance quotes from a variety of sources. Yes, it is always good to check out different companies online at your state insurance website, but don't use that as your only source. Just google "insurance rate comparisons" to find other websites that will give you comparisons too.
