If you have already read How to Buy an Insurance Friendly Vehicle, then you know that station wagons and vans are best to buy to keep your insurance costs down. But, if you are not the station wagon or van type, you can also cut your insurance costs by choosing a vehicle with active crash avoidance equipment.

Vehicles are now being made more defensive on the road. One feature that makes a vehicle defensive is the antilocking braking system, which by now most vehicles come standard with. But there are a few technologies that go even further than the standard antilocking braking system and can save you money on your insurance because they turn your vehicle into a defensive driving machine. These technologies are:

1. Traction Control: will automatically apply your brakes if it detects slipping

2. ESC: with electronic stability control sensors will keep track of steering, acceleration, etc. and will apply the brakes if needed

3. Emergency Brake Assist: the latest in accident prevention, sensors will detect a panic braking situation and will apply full brake pressure if needed
