Well, maybe. According to the Bradenton Herald "Florida consumers could soon get free insurance for their cellphones. The House Jobs and Entrepreneurship Council gave the OK Thursday to a proposal that would carve out an exemption in the law that generally prohibits offering free insurance products, usually considered an unfair or deceptive trade practice. Tim Meenan representing Asurion Corp. which provides insurance for wireless devices, said under the bill companies could embed the costs in all customer billing."
OK, did you catch that last part? "companies could embed the costs in all customer billing." Well, I guess it is as close to free as we will get.
