Is Someone Trying to Collect from Your Car Insurance by Staging a Car Accident?

Saturday February 17, 2007
Would you know if someone is trying to scam you into an auto accident? It's happening all the time. According to www.ocregister.com, a popular California news website, five insurance scammers were arrested just this past week in Orange County, California.

It is important to know what types of insurance scams are used. There are many types of car insurance scams. Set-up car accidents can range from vehicles deliberately stopping in front of a driver to cause a rear-end car accident to drivers who pretend they are being helpful but intend to cause a car accident that will look like the innocent drivers fault. Scams can also involve people one would generally trust such as doctors and lawyers.

I know two women who were in an accident which involved the driver of a commercial vehicle. They are both claiming to have suffered serious injries even though it appeared to be a minor fenderbender which was not serious enough to even deploy theairbags. It was either a possible crime of opportunity or they were waiting for the right pigeon to come along. Neither woman went to the emergency room or anything. One saw a chiropractor instead. She actually said the best thng to do after an accident is not to see a medical doctor. She has a history of initiating lawsuits. The insurance compaqny has offered each of them $10, 000. I believe they’re faking. One has very pressing debts to pay. I believe it is all fake. This sort of thing raises the cost of everyone’s car insurance and will probably cost that luckless commercial driver to lose his job.
