Aflac has made supplemental health insurance popular with their quirky duck. But,have you called your insurance agent to ask what Aflac is all about? It's supplemental insurance and in case you were wondering, other companies offer it besides Aflac.
Supplemental insurance, such as what Aflac offers, pays a cash benefit to the insured. The amount of cash and how it is paid out depends on the supplemental health insurance plan or policy. Some popular supplemental health insurance policies are specific disease insurance such as for cancer, accidental death and dismemberment insurance or accident health insurance, and hospital indemnity insurance.
Supplemental insurance is not often used so you will want to make sure it is something you need to spend your money on before purchasing it.

This article is fine, however I am upset with the level of service from AFLAC and want to tell everyone what I think about AFLAC.
Like so many people, I know the AFLAC brand name simply from the ads; in addition, I have also read the “reviews” on AFLAC from major magazines and online sources. What these great reviews fail to talk about is the QUALITY of service from AFLAC.
Did you know that AFLAC reps are paid by commission only? This is a serious item to mention because once you sign up for service, the reps have no reason to help you any further. My rep (who has district manager on his card,) told me when I signed up that if I needed help filling out claim forms that he would be happy to come to my house and fill them out for me and send them in himself.
Well, I got hurt not too long ago and didn’t realize I had to take the claim form with me to the doctor to have him fill paperwork out while I was there. I called my rep and told him that I needed help. He didn’t sound too happy, but he did say he would come to my house and take care of all of it. He never showed and never called. Why should I have to take a claim form to my doctor? I should be able to fill my paperwork out, give AFLAC my doctor’s info and let THEM contact my doctor.
Okay, so that may sound like bad luck for me. So, have you ever tried calling AFLAC? I can assure you that out of the 18 calls that I have placed to them in the last two weeks that their phone number has been busy 12 times. ??? How does a major company have a busy line? Further, their phone system has has one of those computers that recognizes what you say, well, it doesn’t work worth anything. I have never had problems with any other company’s systems, but AFLAC’s is just horrible.
I sent AFLAC an email on January 15 asking them to call me back or email me with my rep’s phone number (AFLAC closes on federal holidays, which I have no idea what gives them the idea that they deserve the holiday off,) they emailed me back on January 22. That’s horrible service.
In closing, I wouldn’t recommend AFLAC to anyone. Their customer service is horrible. Try doing a Google search for “aflac review” and see what you find.
I couldn’t agree more. I needed to file a claim and was denied due to a prior condition. I told the agent when he signed me up for the insurance about my previous medical history. He told me not to worry about it because it happened over a year ago. What BS, now I try to get help from the company and you cannot get through to anyone. Try to cancel the policy. You have to have your employers permission to cancel something that you are paying for out of your check.
I filed a complaint with the state insuarance com. We’ll see.
Same problem as the previous reports – filed claim – has been over 60 days and always “in process”. Application taken over the phone for the policy – agent made no notation on issues discussed – did not sign application and now company is saying I answered questions wrong. Finally got them to fax copy of application, not sure where they got the signature – would never recommend.
Brain would be happy to help you with your claim. I am a Aflac rep. and I have time for you and anyone else that needs help
Poorly written article. Your last line: “Supplemental insurance is not often used so you will want to make sure it is something you need to spend your money on before purchasing it. ” displays a total lack of understanding of insurance.
Not to mention horrendous sentence structure and grammar.
Aflac is a joke, they lie..
