Using Your Health Insurance Plan Wisely

Tuesday May 16, 2006
When you first got your health insurance, did you just pick a doctor from the list given to you by your health insurance company? Do you think that was wise?

Your chosen doctor will be the person who can ultimately change your future health for the better or worse. Choosing your health insurance plan doctor should not be a quick decision, but a researched choice based on the doctor's credentials and performance along with how the doctor will work with your individual health insurance or family health insurance plan.

Now that you may be feeling a little guilty for not researching more about your doctor, don't worry, you still have time to do that research.

There are some guidelines you can follow to find the best doctor for you. First, ask family and friends for references. Learn more about your doctor's credentials such as if they are board certified. It is also important to see if your doctor has had any complaints filed against them.

It is important that you make a educated decision about your doctor and learn about the resources available to help you choose the best doctor for you.
