Texas Has Lost $618 Million in Federal Insurance Money

According to just released information from the Associated Press, Texas passed up a potential of $618 million in federal Children's Health Insurance Program funding because the state has not been able to supply a matching dollar amount. The AP reported that a member of the House Public Health Committee stated, "The reason it's not a priority is because the poor children don't make campaign contributions and poor children don't vote."
